MARQUETTE — Christmas is just days away now, but some of us aren’t as excited as others.

If you’d rather say Bah–Humbug than Happy Holidays, Northern Michigan University has a play for you. SantaLand Diaries is a comical play about author David Sedaris’s time as a Christmas elf at Macy’s. Christmas may be a time of giving, but the play shows the less than pleasant underside that often appears during the season.

“I feel like people will relate to this because there are more of us out there that don’t relate to the holidays and just really groan with how much earlier Christmas comes every year. And, I think that people are going to see that, and they’re going to go, ‘Oh, those are my relatives, whining at Santa!'” said Shane O’Connor, who plays Crumpet the Elf.

The show opens Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Coco’s Restaurant. The $35 ticket also includes a full course meal. You can catch the show again at midnight for $25 and enjoy some appetizers as well.

Tickets can be purchased at the Forest Robert’s Theater box office or at the Superior Dome.
