Fundraiser gearing up to help Salvation Army

ISHPEMING — A popular fundraiser for a local charity is gearing up for a big party tomorrow night.

The 12th annual ‘Salvation Night of Music’ will be held at the Venice Pub and Pizzeria in Ishpeming. Musicians from all genres will be on hand rocking the speakers all in the name of a good cause.

The best part about the night is the fundraising that goes on for the Ishpeming Salvation Army.

“The musical community gathers together and we put a night of music on at a bar. All of the money goes directly to the Salvation Army right here in Ishpeming,” said Kurt Gronvall, the organizer of the event. “We’re going to have Fast Eddie and the Bones Band, Jerry Kilpela, a jazz trio and The Sideline, which is a country band and Blues Wolf, which is a monster rock band.”

The Salvation Army fundraiser was held at Hickey’s Bar every year until 2013, until the bar burned down on a cold November night.
