MARQUETTE — A locally owned restaurant is raising money all month long to help support a non-profit that supports families in need.

The manager of Outlanders in Marquette says that they are a family restaurant trying to help families in need. They are doing that with one dish at a time.

This year their guest cook Brenda Washnock of BrendaSweetAndSavory.com is serving up exotic dishes all day Thursday.

All the money after cost of the ingredients from those entrees will go towards Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan.

But the charity doesn’t stop there…

Outlanders’ Manager Nichole Klingler says, “In addition to Brenda’s items we have our cheesy rotini section of our menu, we call it our ‘Outlandish Cheesy Rotini Section,’ and if you order one of those, 10% of that menu price we will donate to Teaching Family Homes and that’s not just today, that’s all of December. So if you can’t make it today, you can come in anytime we’re open.”

Brenda’s menu includes North African Sweet Potato Harira Soup, her Mining Journal contest winner Gado Gado, an Indonesian Salad, Jamaican Jerk Chicken Legs and Thighs, and her 2014 World Food Championship Entry, Spicy Red Curry Mac and Cheese.

You can dine in at the restaurant just off US-41 in Marquette or order a carry out.
