Needle to be pulled off of the record for retirement

ESCANABA — After spinning in business for 30 years, one record store in Escanaba is pulling the needle off of the record.

The Record Rack has featured a wide variety of vinyl records, C.D.’s, cassettes, books, DVD’s, video games, and celebrity memorabilia. After 30 years of sharing music and memories, the Seymour’s are closing for retirement.

“As we close in on our final day it’s a little bittersweet for Sue and myself because over this 30 year period we’ve made a lot of friends here in Escanaba and around the U.P. and we’ll miss them, but it’s time to move on,” said Owner Steve Seymour.

Although the store will be closed in two weeks and is done with placing orders, there are still plenty of reasons to stop into the store at least one more time.

“There’s still lots of things we have for sale,” said Owner Sue Seymour, “we are giving away buttons that say ‘Record Rack Forever’ and we’d love for people to stop by and share their thoughts with us and reminisce with us.”

The store is selling down to the bare walls and every item is on some sort of discount. A farewell bash will be held on July 25th at 6 p.m. The owners would love to see anyone who has any interest to stop by and check out the store before they close after three decades of sharing music with the U.P.
