Sheriff’s Deputy rescues a four legged friend
BESSEMER — A Gogebic County Sheriff’s Deputy is a hero after a structure fire today.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire on the three hundred block of South Peck Street in Bessemer at around 2:20 this afternoon. When the fire department arrived, responders could hear dogs squealing inside the residence. At first, they couldn’t get inside due to the heat and smoke, but Deputy Brandon Lyons was able to enter through an open window.
He found an unresponsive Chihuahua in a kennel. He performed rescue breathing and administered oxygen and revived the dog. The fire department then made an attack on the fire and a second dog was able to escape. The Chihuahua is at Lake Road Veterinary Clinic receiving treatment.
