Standoff suspect charged with six counts
WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield man who threatened to shoot police officers Saturday night in Gogebic County appeared in court late Monday afternoon.
30-year-old Tony Compton was charged with four counts of assaulting, resisting, obstructing an officer, and two counts of child abuse in the second degree. Police were called to a house Saturday night in Wakefield where Compton was staying.
He was allegedly distraught according to police. After the Gogebic Iron Area SWAT Team arrived, they were able to talk Compton into releasing his three-year-old son. He then surrendered a short time later.
