SAULT STE. MARIE — An embezzlement investigation has landed a Sault Ste. Marie woman in jail.

Officers from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office say they concluded the investigation Thursday that resulted in the arrest of 51-year-old Christine Kucharczyk. Kucharczyk allegedly stole over $320,000 from a local Sault area family business where she was employed and trusted to help with the finances.

Officers say investigators in the case installed video cameras, ran surveillance, and used other techniques which resulted in them observing Kucharczyk allegedly leaving work with money she had stolen. A search warrant was then executed at her residence, resulting in the seizure of additional evidence including stolen money.

Kucharczyk is facing one charge of embezzlement of $100,000 or more. She being held in the Chippewa Correctional Facility.
