Backpack expert travels to the U.P.

MARQUETTE — It’s become somewhat of a tradition for one outdoor recreation shop to host a big sale graduation weekend.

This year to help with their big sale, Down Wind Sports brought in an expert who deals specifically with backpacks. The store was able to get an employee from Osprey to Marquette for the weekend.
Osprey has backpacks for every kind of outdoor adventure.

“This is a perfect opportunity to get all of your questions answered,” said Bill Thompson, Co-Owner of Down Wind Sports. “Osprey Backpacks makes some killer packs. They’re custom moldable, so they’re one of the few companies in the industry that does that.”

“Down Wind is one of our favorite retailers,” said Luke Olson, the Midwest sales representative for Osprey. “When we heard about their yearly sale that goes on, we decided to come out and team up wit them. Obviously we are showcasing our products, our backpacks, but these weekends are more about education for us. Educating the customer, answering all of their questions, giving them that expert pack fit that really allows them to enjoy their time out on the trail.”

To help get the sale started, Down Wind Sports asked the Chocolay Raptor Center to come in and showoff a couple of their birds.
