Woman arrested for delivery of morphine

SAULT STE. MARIE — A Sault Ste. Marie woman has been arrested on drug charges.

Officers from the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Taskforce say 56-year-old Mary Ann Etcher was arrested after a lengthy investigation into the delivery of morphine occurring within Chippewa County. A search warrant was executed Thursday evening which resulted in collection of several pieces of evidence connecting Etcher to the delivery of morphine.

Etcher was arraigned Friday in 91st District Court and charged with two counts of delivery of morphine, a 20-year felony, and one count of maintaining a drug house. She was charged as a habitual offender.

Officers say several additional arrests and charges are expected pending review from the prosecutor.
