MANISTIQUE — The future of an Upper Peninsula business is in doubt tonight.

An ABC 10 viewer tells us that the FutureMark Manistique paper mill will shut its doors for good. The viewer spoke with us on the condition of remaining anonymous.

Our source did not have an expected date of closure but says that an investors’ meeting took place today at which the mill’s future was discussed. The source says that all shipments to the mill of chemicals that are used to produce the paper have been stopped.

ABC 10 contacted FutureMark Manistique officials to try to verify this information. We were told that they have no comment at this time.

If we can obtain any additional information about this story, we’ll bring it to you as soon as we have it.

Seven months ago, mill employees voted to accept a four percent pay cut to help keep the mill open.
