Michigan Tech preps for WCHA playoffs

Yesterday, we previewed Northern Michigan’s quest in the WCHA playoffs this weekend. But how about the number two seed Michigan Tech? All year, they’ve had an X on their backs and given their strong finish to the regular season, I guess they like it that way.

As the #2 seed, the Huskies will host their best of three series at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Coming to town are Alabama Huntsville, who lost all four regular season matchups to Michigan Tech. But the Huskies knows, they are not a team to be taken lightly.

“They’re going to be a tough team to play against. We got to be ready. Just play our game of hockey and just get pucks deep and play good defense,” Sturos said.

“The playoffs are a clean slate for some teams but having said that, we’re rolling right and we’re trying to peak at the right time and we’re trying to get better in a lot of different areas of our game and this is just a continuation of that,” Pearson said.

This will be the first ever postseason matchup between these two teams. Game one will be this Friday, with game two on Saturday and if necessary, game three on Sunday. Puck drops at 7:07 p.m.
