Open house held for new public works building
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A special open house was held earlier today for the public to see the new public works facility in Marquette Township.
The project took 15 years of planning and one year of construction with a total cost of about $1.3 million. Most of it has been complete for about a year and it is the central storage facility for Marquette Township.
“Vehicles, people, supplies, parts…we’ve got workshops here for different activities, which we never had before. We’ve been spread all over the township in very small spaces. It’s just great to be in a new building,” Superintendent Kirk Page said.
The building also has a room for water monitoring, storage of blueprints and paperwork, as well as a full conference room.
