Taco truck seeking grant for improvements
MARQUETTE — A popular local food truck needs your help to obtain a grant as part of a national competition for small businesses in need of funds.
Dia de los Tacos has entered in the FedEx ‘Think Bigger Small Business Grant’ Contest, with a grand prize of $25,000. Over 1,000 small businesses have entered, including 300 restaurants. Truck Owner Mike Walker says he’s always in search of ways to improve his business.
“I’ve kind of got anybody I know always on the lookout for additional ways to pull in some cash so we can try to expand and improve the truck and the business around it,” Walker said.
The competition requires businesses to send photos and give a short description of why they deserve the grant. Walker says their mission is simple.
“We’re trying to serve the best food we can in one of the coldest places on Earth and we have a truck that needs better insulation, a better transmission and some leaks fixed and things like that,” said Walker.
