Man in serious condition after car-snowmobile accident
ISHPEMING — A snowmobile driver was seriously injured in an accident in Ishpeming Sunday.
Officers from the Ishpeming Police Department say the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and Lakeshore Drive. Michael Joseph Hogan, 34, of Oakland, was crossing US-41 on a 2012 Artic Cat snowmobile when he was struck by the westbound 2012 Ford Focus driven by Eva Ellise Goodreau, 71, of Greenland.
Witnesses tell police that Goodreau’s vehicle ran a red light and struck Hogan’s snowmobile. Hogan was the last in a group of three snowmobilers crossing the US-41 at the time of the accident.
Hogan was transported to U.P. Health System Marquette, where he is reported to be in serious condition.
Police say the accident remains under investigation and will be reviewed by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office when the investigation is complete.
The Ispheming Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, U.P. Health System Bell EMS, and the Ishpeming Fire Department.
