New CFO settles in at U.P. Health System – Portage

HANCOCK — A new face will joining the leadership team at U.P. Health System – Portage.

Steve Bishop is the new Chief Financial Officer at the hospital. He most recently served as the Assistant CFO at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho.

Bishop said his experience in the health care industry will be put to great use at Portage.

“The reimbursement is changing. Quality of care is a prime factor now in providing the patients, plus affordable health care. So with the experience that I bring to the hospital, we’re trying to keep prices down low and quality health care high so that the patient experience is really good,” Bishop said.

Bishop will oversee all things financial at the hospital.

He added that he looks forward to providing financial leadership to Portage and plans to increase access to care in the community.
