Police follow footprints in snow, arrest home invasion suspect
Troopers from the Wakefield Post of the Michigan State Police responded to the report of a breaking and entering in Ironwood early Monday morning.
Police say the 911 call came in around 3:50 a.m. CST. When they arrived on scene troopers began assisting Ironwood Public Safety in searching for the suspect.
Troopers say they located a suspect who fit the description they were given, and when the suspect saw the patrol car he fled between some houses. The suspect, a 23-year-old Minnesota man, trekked through deep snow and hid beneath a tree.
Following his footprints in the snow, troopers located and arrested the suspect, who was found to have stolen property on him.
The suspect is charged with home invasion, resisting police and possession of a controlled substance. He is lodged in the Gogebic County Jail and his name is being withheld pending arraignment.
