Marquette home invasion suspect now has February trial date
MARQUETTE — An Illinois man will go to trial next month for his role in a home invasion in Marquette from this past summer.
Steven Helwig, 29, of River Grove, Illinois is charged with first-degree home invasion. He’ll go to trial in Marquette County Circuit Court on February 3rd.
Police accuse him of breaking into a home on Harrison Street in Marquette in August, along with three other people, and holding the owner at gunpoint.
The suspects were said to have stolen from the home a large amount of medical marijuana and a gun, among other items, while the owner was bound and assaulted. The stolen items have since been recovered.
One of Helwig’s co-defendants, Devin Landrum, 20, of Green Bay, pleaded guilty to second-degree home invasion. He’s serving 360 days in jail.
No public information is available about the cases of the other two suspects, Richard Arrington, 18, of Green Bay and Amanda Beyer, 18, of Red Granite, Wisconsin.
