Wildcats skiers dominate in Houghton
HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Northern Michigan University Nordic skiing team captured the top spots in both the men’s and women’s classic distance races at the final day of competition at the JNQ Sunday.
Sophomore Kristen Bourne captured first place in the women’s race clocking a time of 34:11.1 out sprinting the second place finisher by 0.1 seconds.
Senior Jordyn Ross was next in for the Wildcats completing the course in 34:19.4 to place fourth. Junior Felicia Gesior was next in for the Wildcats in seventh place, clocking a time of 34:42.0.
The Wildcats captured the top four spots in the men’s races. Sophomore Fredrik Schwencke won the top spot with a time of 59:25.1. Sophomore Adam Martin was second just 0.3 seconds later followed by senior Kyle Bratrud who crossed the line less than a second later (59:26.2).
Senior Erik Soderman rounded out the lead pack for the Wildcats crossing the finish line in fourth place with a time of 59:57.4.
NMU returns to action at the U.S. Nationals January 4-5.
