Stelzer earns player of the week honor
BAY CITY, Mich. — Ben Stelzer (Manitowoc, Wis.) has earned GLIAC North Division Player of the Week for a second time this season. The senior guard averaged 26.0 points in helping the Huskies to a pair of home wins last week.
Stelzer made 9-of-13 field goals including 6-of-9 from 3-point range in a 70-59 victory over Findlay on Thursday (Dec. 11). He came back two days later and hit six more 3-pointers (on 11 attempts) in a 24-point performance in a 72-61 win vs. Wayne State. The 6-1 guard was 16-of-25 (64 percent) from the floor with seven assists, five rebounds and four steals in the two games combined.
The national leader in 3-point field goals made per game (5.0), Stelzer was GLIAC North Player of the Week after he scored 28 in Tech’s season opener at Minnesota Duluth Nov. 22. He averages 24.3 points per game on the season.
Michigan Tech will play its final non-conference game of the season on Saturday (Dec. 20) when it travels to UW-Parkside for a 4 p.m. (ET) tipoff.
