Wildcats drop series opener to UAF
FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Northern Michigan University hockey team lost to Alaska, 3-0 Friday night at the Carlson Center. The Nanooks scored all three of their goals in the second period to secure the victory.
Tyler Morley, Marcus Basara, and Colton Parayko all lit the lamp for the Nanooks. Two of three goals by Alaska were scored on the power play.
Wildcats goaltender Mathias Dahlstrom stopped 11 shots in two periods of action. He was replaced after the second period, as Michael Doan saw his first action in net this season for NMU.
The Wildcats out shot Alaska in the third period, 8-6, but they were not able to solve goaltender Davis Jones, who stopped all 18 shots he faced.
NMU (7-3-1, 4-3-0 WCHA) and Alaska wrap up their two game series Saturday at 11:07 p.m.
