Wildcats shutout the Seawolves in Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A late first period goal by Robbie Payne turned out to a big goal, as Northern Michigan shutout Alaska-Anchorage, 1-0 at Sullivan Arena.
Payne scored the games only goal with 21 seconds left in the first period for his second goal of the season. Jake Baker picked up the lone assist on the goal.
The Wildcats finished the game with 25 shots while holding the Seawolves to 13 shots. NMU goaltender Mathias Dahlstrom stopped all 13 shots he faced for his fourth shutout of the season.
NMU killed all six penalties they face. The Wildcats finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play.
NMU (7-1-0, 4-1-0 WCHA) and Alaska-Anchorage will wrap up their two-game series Saturday at 11:07 p.m. eastern time.
