Inaugural U.P. Fall Frenzy celebrates up-and-coming musicians
HANCOCK — Fans of folk and country music gathered in the Copper Country to see some great musicians, including a Copper Country native.
The inaugural U.P. Fall Frenzy concert took place Sunday on the Quincy Green in Hancock. The event was organized by Finlandia University, and featured performances from some up-and-coming country musicians including Copper Country-native Hannah Bethel and David Myhre, who performed with The Band Perry at last year’s CMA Awards.
Both musicians spoke about how they got involved with the concert.
“I was asked by Scott Vargas, who is the student council vice president at Finlandia. He contacted me a couple of months ago and asked if I wanted to be a part of it and I said yes of course,” Bethel said. “I’m from the area so I’m always happy to participate in stuff around here.”
“This event was through Hannah,” Myhre said. “This is her hometown so I was like, ‘Sure I’d love to play’,” Myhre said.
Organizers said they hope to continue the event with more acts in the future.
