Midwest travel writers visiting Marquette area this week
MARQUETTE — Travel writers from 13 different U.S states are arriving in the central U.P. to network with one another and look around.
The Midwest Travel Writers Association is holding its annual fall conference in Marquette this week. It begins Tuesday and runs through Saturday. The Marquette County Convention & Visitors Bureau is showing them around.
“We’re going to be doing kayak cruises, water cruises, going out to eat in multiple different locations, showing them a lot of different organizations and things going on here,” Marquette County Convention & Visitors Bureau director of marketing and public relations Barry Winslow said. “It’s going to be a busy, busy week for everybody involved, but it’s really exciting.”
The Midwest Travel Writers Association is the oldest organization of professional travel writers in the United States. After this week, its next conference will take place next May in the Finger Lakes region of New York state.
