Drake out as basketball coach at Westwood

ISHPEMING – Rae Drake was officially announced as the new varsity boys basketball coach back in May.

Three months later, Drake has resigned from the position.

In a press release sent out by Westwood Athletic Director Jon Beckman, Coach Drake resigned from his coaching duties, citing family reasons. Drake’s extensive background in basketball includes coaching stops at Michigan Tech University and Northern Michigan University.

Drake’s last head coaching stint at the high school level was at West Iron County from 1996-2005. According to the press release, Beckman said that Westwood will move quickly in finding a new basketball coach.
