GLIAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll
BAY CITY – The GLIAC Preseason Volleyball Polls were released on Thursday. Grand Valley State University was selected by the coaches to win the North Division. The Lakers received seven of the eight first place votes. Ferris State received the other first place vote.
Northern Michigan University was selected to finish third in their division. Wayne State University was selected to finish in fifth, Northwood sixth, Michigan Tech was picked to finish seventh, and Lake Superior State was selected to finish eighth.
“I think this year we change expectations a little bit,” said Matt Jennings, the head coach at Michigan Tech. “I think we go in expecting to compete every match and put ourselves in position to win. I think that’s going to be established from day one with this group and I think they’re hungry for that. I think that’s what they want and frankly what their hard work deserves.”
“For this upcoming season we have a pretty young team, said NMU head coach Dominic Yoder. “It’s going to be freshman, sophomores, and juniors. We don’t have any seniors this upcoming year. We’re really relying on our juniors to learn from our senior leadership last year and really kind of promote that as our team philosophy moving forward for this upcoming season.”
Ashland University was selected as the favorite to with the GLIAC South Division. The Eagles received six of the eight first place votes. You can view the entire GLIAC Volleyball Media Day Central page by clicking here.
