Sault Ste. Marie man sentenced on child pornography charges
A Sault Ste. Marie man who admitted to child pornography charges will spend 56 months to seven years in prison.
Wayne Baldwin, 37, pleaded guilty to two counts of using a computer to commit a crime and two counts of possession of child sexually abusive material in Chippewa County Circuit Court in July.
The charges stem from a Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department investigation, during which police confiscated 19 electronic devices from a residence on Carrie Street in the Sault that Baldwin shared with his brother, Eric.
Police say the brothers were running child pornography operations independently. They don’t feel any of the material was produced locally.
Eric Baldwin is charged with a total of 15 felony counts and will go to trial in October.
