Gladstone woman crashes car after falling asleep at the wheel
A 79-year-old woman fell asleep at the wheel of her car and crashed into a telephone pole in Dickinson County Monday afternoon.
Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post of the Michigan State Police say Anita Stockham, of Gladstone, was traveling eastbound on M-69 near Kelly Road in Felch Township when she fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the road. Stockham’s vehicle crossed Kelly Road, hit a telephone pole, and overturned.
She was treated on scene by emergency responders. Troopers say Stockham was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol use is not suspected.
Nordic Ambulance, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, the Felch Fire Department, and We Energies assisted at the scene.
