ATLANTA – The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team was recently named to the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the 2013-14 season. The Huskies ranked No. 24 in NCAA Division II with a 3.522 grade point average. It is the eighth season in a row the Black and Gold earned the honor.
“We are incredibly proud of every player in our program,” Tech coach Kim Cameron said. “Year in and year out they continue to put in the work both on and off the court. They take pride in their academics and its nice to see them get recognition for all the effort they put in.”
The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA; and junior/community college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPA inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2013-14 season is the 19th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
The Huskies have been in the top 10 nationally in six of the eight seasons, including the top academic team in 2010.
