Quinnesec woman hits construction worker
A Quinnesec woman is in the Dickinson County Correctional Center after being accused of driving drunk and hitting a construction worker.
Her name won’t be available until after she’s arraigned, but Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post say she’s 34 years old.
The accident happened shortly after 9:30 Central time this morning on US-2 in Breitung Township near 3rd Street. Police say a trooper on patrol saw a construction worker fall to the ground after being hit by a westbound vehicle. The construction worker was wearing full reflective gear.
The vehicle left the scene and the trooper chased it. After pulling it over, police say the trooper arrested its driver for operating while intoxicated causing serious injury and failure to stop and identify at the scene of a personal injury accident.
Police say the construction worker is a 54-year-old Saginaw man. He was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.
The Iron Mountain Police Department and advanced crash investigators from the Iron Mountain Post assisted at the scene.
