Torres named Interim CEO at Portage Health

Portage Health in Hancock has found their new Interim CEO. Michigan native Diane Torres has been named to the position.

Torres most recently served as an operations consultant for the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center. She is taking over for Jim Bogan, who was appointed Market President for LifePoint Hospitals in the U.P.

Torres says her previous experiences have helped her to prepare for working at this elevated level in the field.

“I’ve worked in non-profit and for-profit healthcare so that the systems related to efficiency, accessibility and quality healthcare is really driving the future for all hospitals,” Torres said.

Torres has more than 26 years of experience in administration and executive roles for health care organizations. She says one of the most important things about running a hospital is bringing in the best employees to run it.

“I know it’s always important to be able to recruit not only the physicians to a community. But to have the nurses, the laboratory technicians and to have all the support staff that run a hospital, nursing home and run clinic space. You have to have those availabilities as well,” said Torres.

Torres will continue to serve as Interim CEO while board members search for a permanent appointment.
