Rochester ready for Symetra Tour event
The top up and coming golfers on the LPGA Symetra Tour are set to tee off round one of the Island Resort Championship on Friday in Harris. Among the field of 144 players, two amateurs will play with the pros.
Avery Rochester has experience playing in big time tournaments. The 18–year–old is a two–time Upper Peninsula Ladies Golf Association champion. The former Marquette Senior High School golf standout won two events as a freshman this past season at Columbia College. The Island Resort Championship will be the biggest tournament that Avery will have played in to date.
“I know that there is pressure there, but I’m just blocking that all out and I’m not going to worry about it,” said Rochester. “If I start to think about it (pressure), I’ll just get nervous and start not playing very good. I just have to play my own game and not worry about all of that stuff.”
Rochester is set to tee off on the back nine Friday morning at 9:10 a.m.
