Open house showcases events at fairgrounds
Summer can only mean one thing–county fairs.
The Marquette County Fairgrounds wanted to remind people that there are plenty of other events at the fairgrounds other times of the year.
The fairgrounds held an open house Wednesday, full with food, music, a scavenger hunt, and of course, farm animals. Fairgrounds staff decided to hold the event to let people know what the fairgrounds have to offer.
“We rent to weddings, family reunions, company picnics, so we thought it would be a great way for everybody to come out and see what a great place (the fairgrounds) is to hold a party,” Marquette County Fairgrounds vendor coordinator Jamie Tomczyk said.
“It’s good to be able to showcase our grounds, because so many people have donated their time and money to help build the fairgrounds over the years so we’re really happy to do it.”
There are plenty of events planned this summer, and the public is welcome to come out and enjoy the fairgrounds.
“The next big event is two weekends from now, The Great Lakes Rodeo, and that’s going to be Father’s Day Weekend,” Tomczyk said. “And after that (the next big event) would be the county fair in August.”
The fairgrounds also offer private tours, and you can find a list of events on their website.
