New heating assistance money is available for low-income residents
The state of Michigan has made a new round of heating assistance money available for low-income residents.
AMCAB says the state legislature has made the money available in the wake of this past winter. The assistance money will partially reimburse residents for deliverable fuels that were delivered between January 1st and March 31st. Propane, coal, fuel oil, wood and wood pellets are eligible under the program.
To be eligible, a household’s gross income per month has to fall within a narrow range, as follows:
- $1,459-$1,907 for one person
- $1,966-$2,494 for two people
- $2,474-$3,081 for three people
- $2,981-$3,668 for four people
- $3,489-$4,254 for five people
- $3,996-$4,841 for six people
- $4,504-$4,951 for seven people
- $5,011-$5,061 for eight people
Besides proof of income, proof of delivery and payment from a registered business that sells deliverable fuels is also required. Community action agencies across the state will take applications until August 31st or until all of the money is given out, whichever comes first.
AMCAB says that any Alger County or Marquette County residents who want more information about the program can call them at (906) 228-6522 or 1-800-562-9762.
