Tigers expect Sanchez back from disabled list Sunday
The Tigers are off today, traveling to Boston for a weekend series against the Red Sox. Detroit has the best record in baseball at 24-12, but the Tigers still have some important pieces of their team on the disabled list, especially when it comes to the pitching staff.
Starter Anibal Sanchez has been on the DL since April 27th with a right middle finger injury, but he’s just about ready to return. The Tigers have penciled him in to start their game in Boston on Sunday.
Reliever Joel Hanrahan has been on the injured list since Detroit signed him as a free agent on May 2nd. He’s recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Hanrahan is in the middle of a minor league rehab assignment with Class A Lakeland, Florida. He’s not expected to join the Tigers until at least June 1st.
