Finlandia University softball player is named to All-Region First Team
A Finlandia University softball player has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region First Team for the Central Region.
Lady Lions senior catcher Alexis Lawley led all NCAA Division III players in batting average by hitting .574. Her .624 on-base percentage was third in the nation and her .970 slugging percentage ranked eighth in the country. She also had a .988 fielding percentage behind the plate.
Lawley has also been named the 2014 Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Year and the Finlandia Athlete of the Year.
As a first-team All-Region selection, she’s eligible for the NFCA All-American team, which will be announced next week.
Finlandia posted a 14-18 record on the softball diamond this season.
