Skandia man will go to trial in August on weapons charge
A Skandia man involved in a possible suicide attempt will go to trial in August on a weapons charge.
Joseph Etheridge, 36, has a final pretrial in Marquette County Circuit Court scheduled for July 25th. His trial is scheduled for August 11th. Etheridge is charged with firearm possession by a felon.
Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post accuse him of breaking into a vacant house on Yalmer Road in Skandia in February with a shotgun in hand. Troopers were able to talk him into coming out peacefully. Police say Etheridge had several outstanding warrants for his arrest at the time.
Four other charges that he also originally faced were dismissed in March. Etheridge is in the Marquette County Jail on $105,000 bond.
