Tech Decathlon athletes dominate race

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Brent Cousino and Patrick Spalding of the Michigan Tech track and field team finished one-two at the St. John’s Decathlon Multi meet on Saturday and Sunday (Apr. 12-13). Cousino finished with 6,066 points, while Spalding had 5,984 points in the six-athlete field.
Cousino won the 100 (11.59), 400 (51.96), 1500 (4:50.42), long jump (20-6.25), shot put (37-3.5) and javelin (141-8). His overall score is ranked fourth best score in Tech history.
Spalding led the group in the high jump (6-0.75), pole vault (13-5.25) and discus (121-6). Spalding’s score was the sixth best at Tech.
The Huskies travel downstate to Grand Valley State this weekend for the Al Owens Invitational.
