Michigan’s unemployment continues to drop

Michigan’s unemployment rate has been on the decline for a while and the latest numbers show a continuation in that trend.

After it was seasonally adjusted, Michigan’s unemployment rate for February was shown to be seven point seven percent. This marks the lowest Michigan’s unemployment has been since May of 2008.

In January, unemployment was up slightly across the Upper Peninsula. Mackinac County, which has the highest unemployment, saw the greatest increase at three percent. Keewenaw County saw the greatest decrease in unemployment from 15 percent to 11.

Governor Rick Snyder said of the state’s drop, “Michigan is the comeback state, and the trend of reduced unemployment and more and better jobs continues, with six consecutive months of job growth.”
