The Forest Park girls basketball team fell to Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy, 56-53 in the MHSAA Class D championship game at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. The Fighting Irish closed the game on a 16-3 run to win their first Class D championship in school history.

In her final game as a Trojan, Lexi Gussert scored 17 points. Forest Park finishes the season with a 26-1 record.

The Forest Park Trojans girls basketball team has a 27-26 lead over Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart after at halftime in the MHSAA Class D championship game.

The Fighting Irish began the second quarter on a 8-0 run to take a 20-18 lead at the 4:41 mark of the second quarter, which led to a timeout by the Trojans. Sacred Heart has scored 24 of its 26 points in the paint.

Kelsey Hendrickson scored four points off the bench for the Trojans in the second quarter, including a shot with a 1.0 left in the first half.

Lexi Gussert has 5 points at the half for Forest Park.

Averi Gamble has 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting in the first half for the Fighting Irish.
