Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect in a stolen vehicle Wednesday morning.
A Mastodon Township man called 911 sometime after 7 a.m. reporting that his vehicle had been stolen. He had been warming the vehicle in his driveway when it was stolen.
Deputies investigated the area when they spotted the vehicle traveling north on Camp 5 Road. After a short pursuit and a standoff after stopping, deputies arrested the suspect, Howard Charles Adkins, 43, of Cedar Lake, Indiana.
Adkins was charged with unlawful driving away of an automobile. His bond has been set at $2,500.
The sheriff’s office discovered today a Jeep registered to Adkins on the snowmobile trail a mile south of Johanson Road in Crystal Falls Township.
