Woman pleads guilty to meth charges, opts out of trial
A Sault Ste. Marie woman pled guilty Tuesday to meth-related charges instead of going to trial.
A trial was scheduled to start Thursday in Chippewa County Circuit Court for 23-year-old Morningstar Parish, but instead she pled guilty to maintaining a meth lab, possession of a controlled substance, and maintaining a drug house.
Parish and Christopher Yon, 29, were arrested in Sault Ste. Marie in January 2013 at a home on Andary Avenue. The Michigan Department of Human Services took a two-year-old out of the house into protective custody.
Yon was sentenced in October, and is serving 9-30 years in prison.
A sentencing date for Parish has not been scheduled yet.
