MI State Police severe weather poster contest
The Michigan State Police are encouraging elementary students to help promote safety during severe weather emergencies.
The MSP’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division is hosting a poster contest open to fourth and fifth-grade students who must illustrate severe weather preparedness.
The entries should be simple and should present a clear image of what people should do to be safe during any of Michigan’s severe weather occurrences. These include snowstorms, extreme cold, tornadoes, thunderstorms, lightning strikes or floods.
Winners will be recognized at a ceremony at the Michigan State Capitol in April. The deadline for entries is this Saturday.
More rules and information are available at the Michigan Committee for Severe Weather Awareness website.
