Icy roads cause semi to overturn in Delta Co.
Icy roads were the cause of an accident in Delta County Friday morning.
The Delta County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened just after 11 a.m. on U.S. 2/U.S. 41/M-35 near the New Page entrance.
Police say a semi-truck pulling a trailer lost control on the slushy and icy highway, struck a viaduct, and overturned on its side. Portions of the north and southbound lanes were blocked.
The semi-truck driver, a sixty-year-old man from Gwinn, refused treatment at the scene.
Police were assisted by Escanaba Public Safety, Rampart EMS, Michigan State Police, CN Railroad, Blondeau Trucking, and the Delta County Road Commission.
The accident remains under investigation.
