Fugitive with U.P. connection to be extradited in triple murder investigation
A man with ties to the U.P. is expected to be extradited in the next several days to Colorado to face charges in a triple murder.
Harry Carl Mapps was arrested Saturday, December 28, at a hotel in Oklahoma and is in police custody until transportation arrangements have been made for the transfer. The 59 year old man is a graduate of Kingsford High School.
Mapps has waived his right to an extradition hearing and faces charges of first-degree murder and arson in the shooting deaths of Kim and Reggie Tuttle and their adult daughter, Dawn Roderick. Their bodies were found in the Tuttles’ home Rye, Colorado after it was damaged by fire on November 27.
Mapps was at the center of a national month long manhunt, being considered a suspect days after the crime was committed. Oklahoma authorities say money appeared to be the motive for the shootings. Authorities claimed Mapps stole checks made out to one of the victims and cashed them on the day of the fire. He also faces theft, identity theft and forgery charges.
