Animals up for adoption at Humane Society
The Copper Country Humane Society in Houghton wants everyone to know they still have a lot of pets to give away.
The organization recently held their “12 Dogs of Christmas” campaign, and were only able to get two of the twelve dogs adopted.
Humane Society staff member Katelyn Hough says that does not mean they were the only two adopted.
“Well we have a lot of dogs right now and people were interested in some of the other ones. As long as we can get some adopted out, that’s all that matters,” Hough said.
In addition to dogs, the Humane Society has many cats from all colors and sizes. All pets in the shelter are spayed and neutered, and up to date with vaccination shots.
Hough added that there are many reasons why people should get a pet. “If you’re a cat person or a dog person, they both do the same thing. You’ll have a very loyal companion, someone that you can love and talk to, who isn’t going to judge you and will love you unconditionally. I think it’s a very, very important thing for people to have.”
If your dog or cat goes missing, to call the shelter because sometimes the police find a stray and turn them over to the Humane Society.
