Project Gift Wrap helps Marquette non-profits

It’s the season for giving, and volunteers from Marquette County are gearing up to help celebrate.

Project Gift Wrap is being held again this year at the Westwood Mall in Marquette.  Shoppers can donate cash to have their gifts wrapped by members of non–profit groups.

“Now we’ll be starting on Saturday with the Gwinn High School Sophomore class,” Community Development Coordinator at the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes Jill Rady said. “And so they get to raise a little bit of money, so I hope all their friends and families will come out and bring their packages that they want gift wrapped.  They’ll pay a little bit of money for each package, and that money will be gifted, you know, to the high school class, and then also, part of that will go to the Volunteer Coordinators of Marquette County.”

The funds raised by the Volunteer Coordinators will help to sponsor an awards ceremony for Marquette County volunteers in April.

There are still plenty of slots available for groups to volunteer their time.

“It’s really a nice opportunity for the groups to come out and do something together,” Rady said. “You know, all of the groups have a focus and a mission, but this is just kind of an aside time when you can do a little team building and have a good time getting to know each other actually, and the holidays is a good time to do that.”

Materials for gift wrapping are sponsored by the Westwood Mall.  Mall hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

To register your group to volunteer in Project Gift Wrap, you can call Jill Rady at (920) 955–3438 or e–mail her at jrady@gsnwgl.org.

Project Gift Wrap will be happening during mall hours from this Saturday through Christmas Eve.
