Ishpeming state championship signs already up
Residents of the City of Ishpeming are showing off their Hematite pride. Signs of support for the Division 7 state football champions can be seen around the city.
The people of Ishpeming are excited to see their team bring home a second title.
“Public reaction is amazing, and how proud the public is of their team, and all the work and effort that these kids have put into it, not only just for the win, but the whole season, and the work they do offseason,” said Ron Johnson, owner of Buck’s Restaurant. “It’s amazing how much effort these kids put into their football.”
“It’s always very neat to see our local teams take a state championship home,” Jubilee Foods store manager Dustin Gransinger said. “I mean, that’s a big achievement, so you know, everybody’s just pumped up and excited for them. It was a great win for them.”
Residents consider this championship exciting for the entire Upper Peninsula. There are hopes that Ishpeming’s football team can continue their championship reign with a third title next season.
