Police escort and fans welcome home Hematites
The Ishpeming Hematites came home from Ford Field as State Champs once again after defeating Detroit Loyola 22-12.
There was a special reception held throughout Ishpeming to welcome home the football team. People lined the streets in Ishpeming to welcome home the two–time Division 7 State Champions Saturday.
Police and fire departments escorted the team across the U.P. until they made their final stop at the Ishpeming High School.
Hematite fans were waving signs, clapping, and cheering on the team.
A second welcome home reception will also be held Sunday evening at the high school.
