Michigan firearm deer season ends
The 2013 Michigan firearm deer season is now over, and it may prove to be a big disappointment.
The Mackinac Bridge Authority keeps a running total during firearm season of the U.P. deer that Lower Peninsula hunters take south of the bridge with them.
The group updates its total three times each day during firearm season, and the final total for the year was recorded at 11 p.m. Saturday.
Lower Peninsula hunters drove home with 4,133 U.P. deer this year. That’s a 33% decline from a year ago, when the Mackinac Bridge Authority counted 6,205.
