Man sent to prison for holding wife hostage
An Escanaba Township man arrested after a hostage standoff this summer was sentenced in Delta County Circuit Court Thursday.
John Sarasin, 62, was sentenced three years and two months to 15 years in prison on an unlawful imprisonment charge. He was also sentenced eleven months in prison on two additional charges: assault with a dangerous weapon and interfering with electronic communication.
All three sentences will run concurrently. He was given credit for 48 days in jail on each charge and must pay over $2,000 in court fines and costs.
In July, Sarasin held is wife hostage for several hours at their home in Escanaba Township. His brother, Daryl, was also arrested in the incident and was fined $325 on a disorderly person charge.
